"BRICKSTONE HOUSE"

Decorations and Furnishing.
Every room is lavishly furnished in the manner of the day. The Chippendale Room has century old gold leaf wallpaper discovered only 13 years ago in an old warehouse in Sydney. The wallpaper in the Queen Victoria Dining Room had been especially replicated from the original crochet which was made by the Sisters at the Villa Maria in Ipswich , more than a century ago. The replicated wallpaper has the feel of crochet, and it is not easy to recognise it as paper. The Dining Room has a stained ceiling and Turkish carpets caress the polished floor.

The Chippendale room has a light cream wall to wall carpet over which are two Chinese silk carpets.

The Wedgwood Room has Wedgwood Blue carpet and from the ceiling to the chair rail is painted Wedgwood Blue, below the chair rail is painted a duck egg blue.

The second bedroom Napoleon Room is painted and wallpapered in more masculine colours, green, brown and cream. The third bedroom Josephine Room is very feminine, being painted and wallpapered a delicious apricot and cream and contains 11 angles in the room and needed the professional touch of experts from Sydney to perfect the details.
Some of the furniture could be made available at the time of sale, please enquire.

From the kitchen, office and laundry the outlook is on to a fishpond, an all sandstone garden fountain, bird bath, and one of the two garages. This level garage has a covered walkway from the kitchen to the garage entrance. The office bar-b-cue area and the original servants bathroom are under the same roof though each room is separated by a brick wall.
There is an undercover carport on level two.

There are 4 fireplaces in Brickstone House, and the exterior and interior have been faithfully restored to detailed artwork on ceiling roses in every room and bay window, frieze paper has been lovingly hand cut to suit the personality of each room. Every room has its own personality yet all rooms are totally harmonious and just right for what they are. It took more than three years to totally restore Brickstone House. It was reconstructed by Kirk Jensen formerly of Sydney, a specialist in Edwardian, Georgian and Victorian decorating. Brickstone has been restored to the elegant, magnificent home of yester-year that it once was. No expense has been spared and only professional skilled labour was used.

About Brickstone House's and Ipswich today.
From the second level it is very easy to see Ipswich City Town Hall clock. It is less than a 5 minute walk to the City heart, and a 43 minute train ride to the centre of Brisbane City. Trains run every 8-10 minutes.
Ipswich is the oldest provincial city in Queensland and was to be the capital. However, it was eventually realised that it was not possible to get the large ships expected to ply the river to navigate the Brisbane River to Ipswich. The first train in Queensland ran from Ipswich to Grandchester. The magnificent Eastern Pacific Train had its genesis at the Queensland Railway Workshops in Ipswich. It eventually became the result of a united Queensland effort, and is considered to be the equal of the Orient Express for sheer elegance and there is a three year wait to experience this once in a lifetime wonder.

Ipswich is home to Global Information Links which was an initiative of the Ipswich City Council and more than 10 years ago became the first City Council to boast its own Internet Service Provider. It is one of the largest in Queensland. More recently, again the Ipswich City Council has developed Global Arts Link, which holds regular art exhibitions showing art from around the world. there is an interactive section which allows the visitor to experience many of the events of Ipswich's past. It is possible to travel back in time to when Ipswich was new and see how people lived at the time you choose to visit.

Services and Facilities
There are many private and public schools in the area. Ipswich being home to the first secondary school in Queensland, the prestigious Ipswich Grammar School built with much of the funds being made available from the prosperous merchants in the city, and having their first intake of students in 1863. The University of Queensland has a campus in Ipswich. This university has been chosen as the number one University of Australia in 2000.
Ipswich is only 43 minutes from Brisbane and only about 15 minutes from some of the richest rural areas in Queensland. The region produces coal, cattle, primary produce, wine, and many other primary products. There is a large export market, with Japan being one of the largest clients. China, Thailand and other Asian countries also buy Ipswich products. There is a huge demand to  export our talents overseas, as so many of our young people seem to be in demand .

The population is around 132,000 and within that number there are 132 different nationalities living in harmony.

As you would expect from a thriving provincial centre there are many services and activities to be involved with. There is crime here but not on the scale of larger cities, our police force is effective, there is unemployment, though there is plenty of work for those who wish to work. Our living costs are not as high as the larger capital cities. Our children are bright academically, artistically, musically, sporty, the general population is friendly.
There are two large hospitals one public and one private, and many aged care facilities. In sports there are clubs for soccer, rugby league, hockey, softball, T ball, tennis, vigoro, martial arts, and cycling. There is a U3A ( University of the Third Age), craft classes,  Rotary, Apex and Lions, Forum, Bridge, and Photographic clubs. Most religions are catered for. Six movie theatres service the immediate area. Beaches are just 60 minutes away and the Gold Coast resorts and Theme Parks are similarly distanced.

If you are looking for an interesting happy home in which to settle, while going about your day to day life, then Brickstone House and Ipswich are for you.
