There are 2 heavy vessel moorings located at the entrance to
the channel, which provide berthage for large vessels. Eight
moorings are located inside the lagoon and vessels are tied
stern-to to a palm tree on the beach. The perfect end to a day's
sailing! There is some space remaining to expand the mooring
facility within the lagoon. Description of improvements Palm Bay has changed dramatically since its development in the late 1960's. Whilst maintaining its charm the principals have improved and refurbished to keep pace with the demands of the discerning traveler. The blend of environmental experience with comfort and style has lead to its constantly growing popularity. Deluxe Bures There are 6 self contained beachfront Bures, one classed as the "honeymoon" due to its seclusion at the far end of the beach offering extra privacy and balcony space. The bures are free standing, of recent construction, have a Polynesian style roof line with raised timber front verandah. The openness of the interior literally beckons the outside creating a peaceful beach atmosphere -- even indoors. Each bure has a tiled floor, timber finish and is a substantial size. Within the open plan is a sitting area, queen size bed, divan, double bunk and double built in wardrobe, and galley kitchenette. The bathroom facilities include a shower, vanity unit and toilet, with an external hot water unit. The large balcony faces the lagoon and beach. A wide sliding door and louvers provide excellent ventilation and a true beach house feel. All Bures are based above the high water mark along the beachfront and offer attractive views through the tropical foliage across Palm Bay. Standard Bures There are eight standard Bures dotted along the beachfront of the resort. These were constructed prior to the deluxe bures and have a timber frame with a low gable roof. Each has its own cooking facilities, refrigerator, ceiling fan, separate toilet, shower and basin with an external hotwater unit They contain a double bed, two or four bunks and a single wardrobe. The standard buses are quite a reasonable size and have been upgraded over time. Scattered amongst the deluxe bures throughout the tropical gardens all offer stunning beach and lagoon views.
